WAAW

Increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance

Celebrated annually, the World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) aims to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

World AMR Awareness Week is one of the most important global events of the United Nations having included antimicrobial resistance (AMR) as one of the biggest threats to global health.

This year 2023, the theme of WAAW is “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together“.

All future WAAW dates as 18 to 24 November

World AMR Awareness Week is a major global campaign that takes place annually to raise awareness of AMR and encourage best practices among the public, health workers and policy makers to slow the development and spread of drug-resistant infections.

The World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), united in the quadripartite secretariat, jointly give implementation to the WAAW worldwide.
