The price of WAR: AMR

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has increased the risk of MDR bacterial infections in war-injured patients. A Ukrainian soldier was successfully treated with a carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae from surgical wounds, revealing a hypervirulent ST147 strain with multiple resistance factors. Ceftazidime/avibactam and aztreonam are recommended as a promising regimen for MDR infections.
