Quadripartite launches the Working Group on Youth Engagement for Antimicrobial Resistance

  10 August 2025

The Quadripartite, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, United Nations Environment Programme, World Health Organization, and World Organization for Animal Health, has established a Working Group on Youth Engagement for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The group will guide efforts to raise awareness and involve young people in global AMR action. AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites no longer respond to antimicrobial agents, making antibiotics ineffective and increasing the risk of disease spread. Over 200 stakeholders participated in 2022’s global consultations on AMR awareness raising, identifying young people as a priority audience for awareness and education efforts. The group, consisting of 14 members from 14 countries, will contribute actively to AMR activities and campaigns, helping define strategies to influence a wider set of youth-led or youth-serving organizations.
