Mechanisms and Approaches to Overcoming Drug Resistance in Cancer, Infectious Disease and Agriculture
The Gordon Research Seminar on Drug Resistance is a unique forum for graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and early career scientists to present and exchange new findings, innovative techniques, and cutting-edge ideas.
Drug resistance poses an immediate threat and challenge in the treatment of multiple human disease states, particularly cancer and infectious disease including those caused by bacterial, fungal, parasitic and viral pathogens, as well as the agricultural application of herbicides and pesticides. Overcoming drug resistance requires a multidisciplinary approach that relies on collaboration between chemists, biologists and clinicians and greatly benefits from cross-disciplinary interaction.
At the Drug Resistance GRS, students and early career scientists will share their research in mechanisms of drug resistance as well as drug development and clinical approaches to overcoming resistance through a series of presentations and poster sessions by trainees. Additionally, there will be a mentorship component led by experts in the field enabling young investigators to expand their professional networks and join a cross-disciplinary community aimed at addressing the common issues facing these fields.
