Gamified interventions to improve the knowledge, attitude and practice on rational use of antibiotics among school children in Mysuru, South India, to curb the growing antimicrobial resistance (AMR)

The study conducted in Mysuru, South India, aimed to improve knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding rational antibiotic use among 2,195 high school students. The intervention included a blackboard introduction, animated video, and games to teach when antibiotics are unnecessary. Results showed significant improvements in understanding antibiotic effects, avoiding antibiotics for common infections, and practicing not buying antibiotics without a prescription. Gamified education is crucial for educating the public and school children on the global issue of antimicrobial resistance.
