PASTEUR Act Reintroduced in Congress
The PASTEUR Act (Pioneering Antimicrobial Subscriptions to End Upsurging Resistance) was reintroduced in the U.S. Congress for the fourth time, now sponsored by a bipartisan group of Representatives including Buddy Carter (R-GA), Scott Peters (D-CA), Nick Langworthy (R-NY), Mike Levin (D-CA), and Mike Carey (R-OH). The legislation aims to reform how antimicrobial drugs are developed and paid for—using a subscription-style model backed by the federal government—to strengthen the pipeline of new antibiotics and antifungals and address the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance.
