Interconnections between the food system and antimicrobial resistance: A systems-informed umbrella review from a One Health perspective
This study synthesizes data from 80 studies, showing how a complex interaction of factors across human, animal, and environmental reservoirs (such as water and soil) drives the emergence and spread of AMR within food systems, with implications for the financial viability of farming as well as the disease burden in humans, animals, and crops. The necessity of a One Health strategy for AMR mitigation is emphasized by this review.
