Enhancing access to antimicrobial resistance diagnostics for the marginalized: Challenges and opportunities of point-of-care technologies

The study reveals that in low- and middle-income countries, inadequate access to antimicrobial resistance diagnostics is a significant challenge. Despite global policy commitments, socio-economic barriers, technological limitations, and infrastructure gaps hinder implementation. The study suggests that traditional culture-based microbiology facilities can be established in sub-district facilities to expand access, despite the limitations of existing point-of-care technologies.
