New global collaboration launched to tackle AMR through improved diagnostics

  23 June 2025

A new global collaboration has been launched to accelerate the use of diagnostics in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The initiative, led by the Fleming Initiative, GARDP, and FIND, aims to strengthen diagnostic innovation, implementation, and equity in low- and middle-income countries where the burden of AMR is highest. Partners include the Wellcome Trust, Africa CDC, CAMO-Net, WACCBIP, Cepheid, and the Ghana Ministry of Health. The collaboration will focus on diagnostic access, innovation, policy, data use, and market shaping. The collaboration will play a critical role in supporting WHO’s AMR Diagnostic Initiative and closing healthcare gaps. A public report summarizing discussions and next steps will be available within a month.
