Effect of oxygen on antimicrobial resistance genes from a one health perspective
The study investigates the influence of oxygen pressure on resistance determinants in Enterobacterales. It compares the MIC of isogenic Escherichia coli strains containing 136 resistance genes against 8 antibiotic families. Results show complex changes in resistance gene performance in anaerobiosis, with some changes being significant for antibiotic family importance. Anaerobiosis affects the action and selective power of antibiotics for specific AMRs in different environments, suggesting that oxygen pressure can influence resistance determinants.
