India’s G20 presidency: A perfect opportunity to catalyse deliberations on antimicrobial resistance (AMR)

India has taken up the mantle of the G20 presidency, setting the agenda for the various working groups and intergovernmental tracks that comprise the G20. One of the Health Working Group’s priorities will be prevention, preparedness, and response to health emergencies, focusing on One Health and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).   Strengthening health systems for the future is critical in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has highlighted the importance of rigorous pathogen monitoring and surveillance for greater health system preparedness.
