“A Swedish company that tries to solve one of the biggest threats facing global health”

“As the only Nordic company on this year’s list, Gothenburg-based startup 1928 Diagnostics has been selected among the world’s 61 most promising ‘Technology Pioneers’ 2018 by the World Economic Forum.

The startup provides an online platform that in effect helps fight antibiotic resistance, one of the greatest threats to global health and food security today, according to the WHO.

Through its platform, 1928 Diagnostics’ analyzes the complete genetic code of bacteria, helping doctors pick the right sort of antibiotic treatment based on a patient’s individual profile.

“This is a big win for us” says 1928 Diagnostics CEO and co-founder Kristina Lagerstedt.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to branch out all over the world. In order to win this fight against antibiotic resistance we need global collaboration. This will make a big difference in the early stages and will help speed up our efforts.”
