P29 Transforming antimicrobial stewardship practice: a real-time dashboard revolution for combating antimicrobial resistance
This study develops and validates a real-time antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) dashboard that integrates prescribing, microbiology and outcome data to close the longstanding gap between policy and practice. Drawing on a systematic review, retrospective patient-record analysis and a national survey of healthcare professionals, the team identified key monitoring shortcomings and designed an affordable, Excel-based tool aligned with the UK’s Start Smart, Then Focus framework. The dashboard enables dual-phase monitoring of empirical and targeted therapy, highlights missed review opportunities—such as only 47% of pneumonia cases being reviewed within 48–72 hours—and detects prolonged broad-spectrum use and de-escalation gaps at ward level. Validated through expert review and technical testing, it shifts stewardship from retrospective auditing to proactive, point-of-care decision support, offering a scalable digital solution that strengthens patient safety and enhances global efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance.
