Genomic insights into the serovar prevalence, antimicrobial resistance gene, and geneticdiversity of Salmonella enterica in Mexico
The study analyzed 818 whole-genome sequences from Mexico, identifying 51 serovars, with 19.8% corresponding to S. Infantis, 10.7% to S. Anatum, and 6.6% to S. Newport. Phylogenetic analysis showed a strong correlation between sequence type and serovar, but complex contamination pathways were observed. Many isolates were identified as multidrug-resistant, highlighting the importance of identifying contamination sources for food safety and public health.
