Understanding the Biology, Antifungal Resistance and Clinical Implications of Candida auris
Rockville; Maryland (US)
NIH / National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease
Candida auris is an emerging fungal pathogen that exhibits multidrug resistance, persists in the environment and is transmitted in health care settings, as evidenced by several recent outbreaks in hospitals and long-term care facilities. These pathogenic characteristics are uncommon in fungi and are not well understood by the research and clinical community. This workshop will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders (researchers, clinicians, industry, intramural NIAID, and CDC) to determine what is known about this organism, what are the most serious knowledge gaps and how to best leverage resources to combat this unique fungal pathogen.
